Triquetra 925 Sterling Silver Earrings
The Triquetra is a Norse symbol closely connected with the Horn Triskelion, also known as Triskele or the Triple Horn of Odin.
While the Triskelion consists of three interlocked drinking horns, each one drawn individually, in the Triquetra the three horns are drawn using a single uninterrupted line, sometimes further encircled by a second line.
The Triquetra is commonly worn or displayed as a sign of commitment to the Norse faith, commemorating Odin’s quest for the Óðrerir, the mead of poetry, a magical drink that made anyone who drank it become a skald, able to recite any information and solve any question. In the saga Odin bargained for three nights with the giantess Gunnlöð for three sips of the mead. However, with each sip he drank a whole horn. Since the three horns he drank contained the whole of the mead, Odin thus got all of it and fled in the shape of an eagle.
The Triquetra symbolizes Odin’s gift of knowledge to mankind, with each one of the three horns meaning a hard earned sip from the mead of poetry, paid with hard work and cunning intellect.
