Triskele the Triple Horn of Odin 925 Sterling Silver Necklace
The Triskele or the Triple Horn of Odin is also know as Triquetra or Triskelion. The symbol is commonly worn or displayed as a sign of commitment to the Norse faith, commemorating Odin’s quest for the Óðrerir, the mead of poetry.
The mead of poetry is a magical drink guarded by a jotunn, that made anyone who drank it become a skald, able to recite any information and solve any question.
In the saga Odin bargained for three nights with the giantess Gunnlöð for three sips of the mead. However, with each sip he drank a whole horn. Since the three horns contained the whole of the mead, Odin drank all of it, obtaining the full wisdom of the drink, which he then decided to share with mankind.
The Triskele symbolizes Odin’s gift of knowledge to mankind, with each one of the three horns meaning a hard earned sip from the mead of poetry, paid with hard work and cunning intellect.
